Not an Accident

It is not an “Accident”
I walk into my favorite bar to meet all my friends from work, I noticed, “They had started drinking without me,” “I need to catch up.” I order a beer and a shot. I down the shot and chase it with a beer; jokingly, I tell the bartender that there is a hole in my glass. I order another shot and a beer. My cell phone rings. “Did you forget about your daughter’s birthday party?” “I’ll be right there.” “You haven’t been drinking have you?” “No, I’m fine, I can drive,” as I down my last beer. Rushing home for my daughter’s birthday I call my wife, “I’m on my way home.” As I hang up the phone, shaking my head, “man I shouldn’t have had that last shot.” “Oh my god, a red light!” CRASH. Screeching tires, shattering glass, and crumpling metal, as a truck slams into the side of a family’s minivan. I open my door and step outside, “what’s going on?” Sirens raging, voices screaming, “Look what you’ve done!”...
