Prostitution is “the act or practice of indulging in promiscuous sexual relations, especially for money”. 1 In simple terms, prostitution is the act of selling one’s body for sex. Prostitution has long been an issue of controversy, and we will tell you why it should be legalized. By making the world's oldest profession illegal, society has enabled a dangerous and ugly black market that disrupts neighborhoods, allows women to be abused, spreads disease, and breeds an entirely new class of criminals to flourish. Strict regulations on legalized prostitution will create a safe environment for both the client and the worker, a decrease in the spread of HIV and AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases, and an increase in tax revenue. Prostitution should be decriminalized, and under strict regulation, for the bettering of society in the United States.
