“Nike is the largest sports and Fitness Company in the world.” Known mainly its wide variety of sports shoes. But, where does it come from? How did it come about? What’s the history behind the swoosh symbol? Questions like such are probably never thought of when the name Nike is mentioned but they will be answered here in this text.

The name Nike comes from the ancient winged Greek goddess who was actually named Nike. Nike was the goddess of victory according to Greek mythology. It is said that Nike sat aside Zeus who was the ruler of the Olympic pantheon, which is the dome or temple of gods in Olympus. Nike was a mystical force that symbolized victory. Nike was considered to be the force responsible for a victory in a battle. A Greek would say, “When we go to battle and win, we say it is Nike.”
