The narrative Night by Elie Wiesel tells the story of a young boy who astoundingly survived the Holocaust, the writer depicts his life throughout the traumatic experience, describing how he was forced to grow up abruptly. Elie had basically become a wise old man at the age of fifteen. It was the year 1933 and Hitler had been appointed as head of a governing coalition. Once in power the Nazi’s leadership moved quickly to end democracy and establish a dictatorship. Before the war began, Elie was portrayed as a deeply religious boy for whom his community and his family were everything. The Jewish faith instilled in him a sense of duty to care for his parents and to live an ethical life. Although his father was not demonstrative, Elie respected him and obeyed him.
