Night of the Bat

I chose to do Night of the Bat by Paul Zindel for my book report. It is a horrifying fiction novel. The book’s setting is a camp in a rain forest of Brazil. This book has a very exciting story line. In the book there is a giant brain-eating bat that attacks people. Jake needs to kill the bat or the bat will kill him!
The setting is a camp in a hot and moist tropical rain forest of Brazil (near Manaus). The camp isn’t much larger than a baseball diamond. Three huts and half a dozen tents had been set up in a circle in the camp. Clusters of ropes and pulleys spiraled skyward though the entire camp. Jakes father, Dr. Lefkovitz, leads a research team (of about ten people) on an expedition to study bats. The jungle that surrounds the camp is filled with vampire bats. They sleep in vines and hollow tree trunks during the day. At night, they fly to feast on the backs of monkeys and wild boars.
