NEWBORN: THE FIRST 48-HOURS - WHAT TO LOOK FOR AND SCREENINGS.

A newborn baby just went through probably the most traumatic experience of his life. When he enters the world with all his major organs functioning. He can see, hear, smell, taste and feel. Even though he looks uninvolved, he is very much sensitive to the events taking place around him.

Soon after birth a baby can recognize his mother’s voice and her scent. He is born with desire for sweet things, which matches the flavor of formula or breast milk. His hearing is not fully developed at birth, because parts of the ear are still immature. Low-frequency sounds can be heard by baby at birth, including the human voice. Scientist believe that baby’s sense of smell is well developed at birth. For instance a newborn will use his nose to find his mother’s nipple. Baby’s sense of touch is extremely developed. His eyes are capable to see, but because his brain is not fully developed, he doesn’t see as well as adult. He can distinguish light from dark and see thing no fur...
