When people become accustomed to looking at something, they stop seeing it. Sometimes, the most common objects, things people glance at everyday, are not really seen at all, and so we find ourselves unable to really describe items we are used to seeing. Even worse, when we stop seeing things, we stop appreciating them. And when we take something for granted, it loses all value and all beauty.
A penny is one of these neglected wonders; not just a coin, but also a miniature work of art. A flat, round, two sided, bronze piece of metal, approximately .015 milligram in weight. Both sides are engraved with either prominent people and national symbols. A penny may lack the monetary value of a royal family’s crown jewels, but it plays an important part in the monetary structure. Think about the skill and artistry that goes into making a penny. ...
