Nationalism can certainly be considered one of the major causes of World War I. In this essay, I will discuss three different ways in which nationalism caused World War I. Nationalism is what lead European nations to compete for the largest defensive system or the greatest industrial development. Also, nationalism provided groups of people with the idea of becoming an independent nation. In addition, some nations chose to fight against nationalism, which resulted in rebellion and resistance. Through these ideas, nationalism can be considered a major cause of war.
