I. Background
Napster is a company that lets you download music from their Internet site onto a MP3 and/or MIDI device. Shawn Fanning, who is now twenty-two years old, created Napster. He started this company from his apartment, in San Mateo, California. Napster was created a few years ago. Hank Barry is the attorney and CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of Napster. Any user with Internet access and the right computer speed can download hundreds of songs from over a million choices. There is no limit to the number of songs that con be downloaded this way. The reason why so many people use it is because all of the songs are free instead of going to the store and purchasing the CD, record or cassette.
