This is an abstract of the seven web sites that I went to for the Bio Science Webboard for the conference topic “Genetic Engineering”.



For the first site I chose the conference on genetic engineering at http://www.anth.org/ifgene/holdrege.htm. I thought the site to be informative. It mainly discussed the issue on transgenic rice. Scientist feel that the rice would help Asians because of the high rate of vitamin A. They feel that the rice would help since it has a Beta-carotene which is a precursor of vitamin A. Given that the body could produce vitamin A.

This site provided me with information that I wasn’t aware of before. I didn’t know that so many Asians were deficient in vitamin A. I don’t feel that the scientist are moving too fast, I think that they are just trying to help the Asians.
