My Grandmother

I think the best memory I have of my childhood isn’t some great adventure that I went on or some little group of friends I hung out with. It’s more of a role model. This was someone I only had the joy of knowing for about six years but she made the biggest impact on my life. You may think her name is strange but that’s only because I named my grandparents after their pets. Her dog’s name was Skippy so I, of course, called her Grandma Skippy. She was not my actual grandmother if you want to be technical; she was my great-grandmother. I didn’t have a great-grandfather because he died many years before I was born.
Most of the things I remember about her happened right before my family moved to Tennessee, when I was about four or five. At least once a week my mom, my sister, and I went to her house. On the way there I would always forget where we were going and I would say, “Where are we going again?” and my mom would reply, “We’re going to see Grandma Skippy.” I woul...
