My Daughter and Pyloric Stenosis

Everything seemed fine that day, November 24, 2001, that is. My daughter had been spitting up after every feeding, but I thought being a new mother, I was just being over dramatic. I called the doctor anyway and explained how she had been throwing up quite a bit. She told me to take her to the emergency room since it was a Saturday and the doctor’s office was closed. When I got to Saint Anthony’s, the emergency room doctor examined her and could not come up with a diagnosis. They said they would like me to take her Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital right away, because their hospital is better equipped for working with infants. It was about 8:00 p.m. when we headed to Cardinal Glennon’s. When we got there we ended up having to wait in the waiting room until 12:30 a.m. I was very upset because they ordered my daughter N.P.O. (which means nothing by mouth) so she couldn’t eat anything. That night it was getting so...
