My Bondage and my Freedom

My Bondage and my Freedom is an intriguing novel that illustrates the life and hardships of a young slave boy. Frederick Douglass seems quite intelligent, and I believe that this is his underlying drive, and will lead to his success and eventual escape.
In the beginning of the novel, it seemed as though this young slave boy had an uncharacteristically happy childhood in light of the time period.
