Murder

Good evening ladies and gentlemen of the Jury, my name is Heather Chambers and I am here on behalf of the State of Georgia. Along with my co-counsel, I am here to prove that the defendant, Sam Cunningham is guilty of murder, felony murder, as well as two counts of possession of a knife. We will prove that the defendant committed the crime of murder when he unlawfully and with malice caused the death of Jude Smith. Malice is the deliberate intention to unlawfully take the life of another. A person also commits the offense of murder, when in the commission of a felony, he causes the death of another human irrespective of malice. A person convicted of the offense of murder shall be punished by death or by imprisonment for life. Mr. Cunningham is also on trial for the possession of a knife.
