Ms.Brill

The Memory

In 1918, Katherine Mansfield wrote a story " Miss Brill". It was written in third

person, and was told from the third person omniscient point of view. It is difficult to

understand Miss Brill , because she does not undertand herself. She is a women who lives her

life through the observation of others. She was unmarried, and she went to the park , always

on Sunday afternoons, to escape her lonliness by intergrating herself into other people's lives.

Miss Brill was kind of mysterious, and calm. From what I have read, she sat in the park

always, for past twenty years, cause she knew that the band played whole year around, " For

although the band played all the year round on Sundays, out of season it was never the same".
