Moving throught the line

The United States is one of the few places in the world that people constantly wants to go to. It’s a place of endless possibilities and a future that looks bright. This “future” is constantly reeling in more and more people into its warm welcoming arms. And then one day we’re moving to the United States. We’re leaving everything behind. For the future…
I am a Filipino. I have lived in the Philippines all my life. My two younger brothers, my younger sister, and myself have always been there. We lived at the city of Manila, the national capital. And that’s were I have spent the previous 20 years of my life before moving in here.
I always knew we’re going to end up in the United States. It was a day I always knew was coming, it was just the question, “When are we going to leave?”
I remember the day vividly. It was the afternoon of September 22, 2001, a few days after the World Trade Center bombing. A lot of people were still glued to their cable TV’s watching CNN...
