The brighter side of these years were “roaring” with all kinds of music and dance, but on the dark side it also was filled with gangsters. Some americans in this time period allowed the criminals, even those that were involved in bootlegging. Bootlegging is another word for smuggling illegal substances. There was thought that bootlegging may have been allowed because of the recent ban of alcohol during this time period, which was known as the Prohibition. Gangsters were involved in bootlegging, prostitution, gambling, and organized crime, Al “Scarface “ Capone, Bonnie and Clyde, and John Dillinger were the headline makers of this time. Al Capone was one of the most famous gangsters of all time, maybe one of the reasons Al Capone is so memorable is because of the fact that he would always maintain a high profile.
