Like all smart movie sub-groups, Pirates Of The Caribbean embellishes on a well-told story and vivid characters. The pirate movie trimmings (fabulous treasure, walking the plank, parrots) only sugar-coat a classic action plot.
The movie opens in Hollywood Scallywag Era (around 1720) when ever-present pirates, much like bad drivers, are an annoyance to decent pompous rich folk.
