Montessori "New Education

Question 1: Describe what Montessori meant by “New Education”

The Montessori method of teaching aims for the fullest possible development of the whole child, ultimately preparing him for life’s many rich experiences. Dr Maria Montessori developed her philosophy of education based upon actual observations of children. Through educating the young, she advocated that a new generation of ‘fulfilled and well balanced’ adults would arise to lead the world towards peace. “The child is in fact the other pole of humanity. He is also a producer. He has in fact a constructive part to play in the building up of civilization just as important – if not for more – than that played by the adult. (Maria Montessori, Her life and Work, pg 253, Chapter XV)
