The museum of modern art was founded as an educational institution in 1929. From an initial gift of eight prints and one drawing, The Museum of Modern Art's collection has grown to include over 100,000 pieces of art, including paintings, drawings, photographs, and many more. Its collection is vast, and increasing, that’s why the MOMA on fifty- third street In Manhattan has closed for renovation, and one reopened in Queens, until the 2005, when the renovation is complete.
In the museum you were forbidden to touch the art or even come close to it, the set up rubber borders around the wall, and we were not allowed to cross. This is because frequent touching can cause damage, and if there is anything as much as a light scratch the museum has to send out the painting to get it treated and this process is very expensive.
