Mistakes
Have you ever made a mistake? Well, I am sure everyone has. It just depends on whether or not it’s a major one. Mistakes can always be forgiven by doing something pleasant to someone. In the book, The Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthrone, Hester Prynne made a major mistake. Hester relates to the Charlie in the Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes they both made a mistake that advances a reader’s understand of a character.

Hester Prynne realizes and accepts the consequences of the adulterous act she committed against her husband Roger Chillingworth. As Hawthrone shows in this quote, “It lies not in the pleasure of magistrates to take off this badge,” calmly replied Hester. “Were I worthy to be quit of it, it would fall away of its own nature, or be transformed into something that should speak a different purport;” Hester, throughout the book, excludes and humbles herself because of her crime, rather than simply running away.
