Mexican Revolution

From 1910-1940 Mexico went through a revolution that has clearly set the stage for where it is today. It all started when Francisco Madero was successful at ousting Porfirio Diaz from power. As one historian put it, ‘Madero started the democratic revolution to limit power. Cardenas ended the cycle by enlarging presidential power to an amount that Porfirio Diaz didn’t dream in his wildest dreams’. In the thirty years of the revolution, Mexico experienced six presidents, all whom brought more and more problems to the country and aroused more animosity among the people due to poor leadership skills, thus causing us to believe that Cardenas had more power than he actually did, when in reality, he was simply the only leader who followed through with his promises and listened to the people’s cries.
