Because a short story is so short, not a lot of things can happen therefore a good short story usually contains a twist for example in Two Kinds where the piano piece is supposed to be played in two parts. The structure of a short story should be classic with a beginning, middle and end however some short stories may contain more than one beginning or end.

A good short story includes conflict, a crisis and a resolution. They work best with plenty of action between the main characters for example the priest and the headmaster in ‘Dead mans path’.
