Materialism on the water MATERIALISM ON THE WATER One drawback of materialism is the pollution of two-cycle engines with the growing population of the river crowd. The market for outboard motors and personal watercraft (PWC) is thriving. Rivers and lakes can barely hold the sheer number of boats and PWCs prepared for fast, fun in the sun. Soon the luxury of launching such toys at our local water holes might leave us high and dry. The emissions these two-cycle engines are depositing into the environment caused a ban of the sale of two-cycle engines in California. The publics thirst for the biggest, fastest riverboat and PWCs is causing these recreational areas to ban these two-cycle vessels. For years: boaters, fishermen, river rats, and outdoor enthusiasts have enjoyed the waters of lakes and rivers. The wind blowing in your face as you jet through the water. Combing every cove, nook and cranny the river has in store. The all day fishing trips that seem bountiful, no matter the catch. Water skiin...
