The argument, “Should Marijuana be legalized?” is one of great controversy. Marijuana should be legalized for medical purposes but not for recreational use, and handled in a professional manner as any other prescription drug. Not only is marijuana a known treatment for A.I.D.S. and cancer patients it is also used for some anorexia cases. Marijuana also helps glaucoma patients by reducing ocular pressure, which can cause damage to the eye. Still the government of our nation has marijuana classified as a Division I drug. Which means it serves no medical use and does in no way benefit society.
What Is Marijuana? Marijuana is a green, brown, or gray mixture of dried, shredded leaves, stems, seeds, and flowers of the hemp plant. You may hear marijuana called by street names such as pot, herb, weed, grass, boom, or Mary Jane. Marijuana is a mind-altering drug made up of over a thousand chemicals.
