Marc Antony in Julius Caesar

In the play, Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare, the character Marc Antony is a brilliant opportunist who befriends enemies for revenge, convinces Brutus to let him deliver the last eulogy, and gains the support of Lucilius after his capture. Marc Antony takes opportunities to befriend the conspirators, so that they will let him live, and flatters them so that they let him get the last say in the funeral. When the opportunity to gain support arrived with Lucilius, Brutus’ loyal follower, he jumped at the chance to protect Lucilius and gain his loyalty. In the following essay, I will prove that Marc Antony is a brilliant opportunist with three examples from the play.
In the first main appearance Marc Antony makes in the play, he is met by the conspirators, who have just murdered Julius Caesar. The first thing Marc does is comment on the death of Caesar.
