INTRODUCTION

Male infertility is a common problem in approximately 15% of couples attempting their first pregnancy. Conception is usually successful within twelve months in 80 – 85% of couples who use no contraceptive devices, after this time, if there is no success, the couple is considered infertile. Studies over the last 20 years have proven that the male is the infertile partner in at least 50% of couples having trouble conceiving. It has been proven that the longer a couple remains subfertile, the worse the chance for a suitable cure and a decrease in the chance of the couple to conceive.
