The Eucharist

The priest greets everybody with the sign of the cross then we say the Penitential
Rite which is Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy, this brings us
closer to God and asking for forgiveness. Then afterwards there would be a Gloria
celebrating or praising God.
After the Gloria there is a 1st reading from the old testament, and a reading from
psalms with the congregations response. On a feast day, they include the 2nd reading
which is read from the new testament. Before the Gospel starts there is a Gospel
Acclamation the Gospel is read from the New Testament and is read by the Priest this is
a story of Jesus’ life.
The priest now talks about something relevant to the Gospel or maybe something
that happened during the week. This is called the Sermon or Homily. We all stand and
