Machiavelli

Niccolo Machiavelli (1469-1527), an Italian statesman and political philosopher was employed on diplomatic missions as defence secretary of the Republic of Florence. After retiring from public life he wrote his famous work, The Prince (1532), describing the means by which a leader may gain and maintain power.
Although written 500 years ago, Machiavelli’s views still have many relevant implications for modern society. Machiavelli was among the first proponents of organisational theory and the first to identify the relationship between effective leadership and the power it exercises over scarce human resources in the organisational environment....
