Macbeth

When William Shakespeare wrote the play Macbeth, he made a point to make appearance and reality two very different things. Practically nothing in the play is what it appears to be. When the witches chant, ?Fair is foul and foul is fair? in Act I, Scene I, they are foreshadowing the appearance versus reality theme. This line that they chant means things that look good are really bad and vise versa.
At first, the witches? predications about Macbeth sound like good news, but as one soon finds out, they lead to death and destruction. Also, it was quite ironic when Lady Macbeth is telling Macbeth, ?look like th? innocent flower, but be the serpent under?t?
