Luke Skywalker vs. King Arthur

Dating as far back as the 9th century, the path a character takes in a story to become a hero has not varied greatly. The details surrounding the character, such as his lifestyle, time period and others, deviate greatly however the underlying theme of the journey remains constant. There is always a path that is involved in making this journey, whether it may take them years or days, they complete it in some way. One extreme yet similar example of this is King Arthur and Luke Skywalker. The time period in which each lived differs vastly, but their guide in life, the mentor, similar humble beginnings, and their unique way of acquiring an heirloom all prove to be quite similar.
