and i want the faeries and i want the unicorns and the merlins.There was some debate between playwright Tennessee Williams and director Elia Kazan over the ending of the play, “Cat on a hot tin roof”. In his “Note of Explanation” (124-125), Williams explains that he edited the third act in order to appease the Broadway director. As a compromise, while wanting to please the director but also maintain his own artistic influence, Williams added a second edition of the third act to the end of the play.
