Joy, an emotion that is desired by all but only attained by few. This emotion is considered to be the centerpiece of life. But why? Why is joy so important to people? My guess is that because the opposite of joy is sorrow and sorrow is an emotion that no one wants to be indulged in; therefore, it behooves people to seek joy. To some people joy is the result of the circumstances of their lives such as: wealth, companions, etc. while others may believe that joy is a result of love and self-fulfillment. Wherever the feeling of joy may derive from all people can agree that it is something that they would like to have in their lives.
Before I continue my babbling on the subject I would like to first define this thing called joy. According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary joy is defined as “ a feeling of happiness that comes from success, good fortune, or a sense of well being” (Merriam Webster 407).
