Nature is a symbol that parallels to the real world. The nature on the island in William Goldings Lord of the Flies is used as the primary source of symbolism. It helps prove the authors theory that mankind is foolish and evil in any situation. There are three uses of symbolism of natures: a conch shell, a pigs shell, and a rescue fire.
The first part of nature’s symbolism is a conch. Ralph at the beginning of the book found the couch. The conch represents power and authority. It was used by Ralph to call the boys for meetings and assembly’s. “He put the conch to his lips and began to blow. Savages appeared painted out of recognition…” (159).
