Lord of the flies

Jack and Ralph are the main characters in Lord of the Flies. Through them, Golding puts across the idea that two completely different people with completely contrasting characteristics wouldn’t be able to resolve their differences for the benefit of others. Golding also uses the two boys to emphasize on the idea that people are destroying each other because of their lust for power.

At the beginning at the book, especially after Ralph has been voted chief and Jack gets leadership of the choir, there are some suggestions that two boys will manage to ignore their differences for the good of the group.
