Lord of the Flies

Side by side the two girls entered the lunchroom. As usual, the typical commotion and persistent conversations were already in progress. Full of giggles and eager to join their friends, the two girls quickly scurried to reach their particular seats. The aroma of the lunchroom circled in the air above, as the daily talk hung from the mouths of the teenagers. As the girls took their seats, a familiar face approached them.
“Did you hear about Angela?” the girl questioned as she reached the table with a concerned look upon her face.
“Yeah, can you believe that?” another replied
“How embarrassing.”
As the talk spread from table to table, exaggeration was added, along with opinions, lies and twists of the truth. In minutes, the rumor had spread not only throughout the lunchroom, but throughout the entire school.
