“Long Walk to Forever” by Kurt Vonnegut is a novel about a timid young man named Newt with only one goal to achieve. His goal is to convince and embezzle a beautiful young woman’s heart named Catharine. “Long Walk to Forever” is a beautifully written novel with many metaphors. Kurt does not inform the reader at the end if Newt induces Catharine to his wicked persuasions. This is an example of how Kurt plays with the novel and why this story is accordingly well written. The story also gives the reader the choice of ending the story the way the reader desires.
The first phrase I chose is the opening sentence. The opening sentence elucidates the novel’s plot. “They had grown up next to each other, on the fringe of a city, near fields and woods and orchards, within sight of a lovely bell tower that belonged to a school for the blind.” The s...
