There are many boundaries between persons and places in American history. John Sayles’s film, Lone Star, explores not only the restrictions between persons and places, but also the limitations between genders, classes, cultures, ethnicities, and time periods. Even though the investigation of Charlie Wade’s death is the main story line there are however, a number of controversial issues included in the film. Some of these issues include immigration, interracial marriage, and incest. The criminal justice system allows the town of La Fonteria to become a place for harmonizing cultural and political freedom.
