When Simon discovers the dead parachutist or the so called the beast, he feels sorry for it. Simon
“took the lines in his hands; he freed them from the rocks and the figure from the wind’s indignity
(pg. 146-147).” When the other boys saw what they thought was the beast they instinctively
charged it with their spears readied, not knowing that the beast was already dead.

When Simon found their so-called beast, rather than attack it, he freed it from it’s
