Critical Review

Protest comes in many different forms for many different reasons, whether against injustice, poverty, war, or leadership. However, the most passionate form of protest belong to those who protest against a system that increases poverty, dishes out injustice faster and more often than McDonald’s hamburgers, and runs on people who make decisions in self-interest and clearly violate rights given by God to all human beings. Mumia Abu-Jamal screams his protest against the American judical and penal system in his book Live from Death Row. Jamal is a 49 year-old death row inmate of Huntingdon prison in Pennsylvania. Arrested in 1981, Jamal was charged with the shooting of a Philadelphia police officer one night after he came across the officer brutally beating his brother on a street corner while driving a taxi cab.
