The novel Night by Elie Weisel takes place in Germany during World War II. The story begins at the beginning of the war before the Jewish people are aware of the life threatening situations they are in. The story progresses to horrific conditions in the concentration camps. The story revolves around the need to recognize and stand up to the evil society.
As the story opens “there are anti-Semitic incidences everyday”(pg 7 Elie Weisel). The Jewish people realize that this point there is hatred towards them and are “living in an atmosphere of fear and terror”(pg7 Weisel). Still despite this knowledge the Jewish people are not fully aware of exactly how evil the Nazis truly are.
