Linear and Non-Linear Element Experiment no.2

1.Purpose

To experimentally determine the relationship between the current and the potential difference of 3 different devices by studying whether the circuit element obeys Ohm’s law.

2.Data Acquisition and Analysis

An apparatus was set to measure the current and voltage (in both current direction) of a resistor, a diode and a light bulb.

A current is said to exist whenever there is a net flow of charge through some region. In some materials, the current density is proportional to the electric field. Material that follows this relationship are said to be linear and obeys Ohm’s law.

Where: J = Current density
ó = Conductivity constant
