lindisfarne collage hockey

LINDISFARNE 1st XI TOP 10 IN N.Z

The Michael Jones captained side of Lindisfarne collage 1st XI headed on a new journey as they left for Christchurch on the morning of Saturday August 16th. There destination was Rankin Cup which is the top secondary schools hockey tournament in New Zealand. The team Qualified for this prestigious event by placing 4th in the India Shield tournament the year before and then playing Napier Boys High for there place in the Rankin Cup. The team was also at disadvantage as they were placed 16th of the 16 teams. This meant that they were to have a hard pool of St Andrews who were the winners of the last 2 years and also they had a strong Westlake Boys team and Waitaki Boys in there pool.The boys went into the first game with high hopes playing Westlake Boys
but after dominating the first 15mins Lindisfarne slacked off and conceded 2 goals this was to prove very costly as the boys picked up the pace again but couldn’t put the ball in the goal for a 2 ...
