Synopsis
In the article “First cloned human embryo is ready to implant in surrogate mother, scientist claims,” is the issue regarding the cloning of human beings.
Panyiolis Zavos, a fertility expert at the University of Kentucky, claims to have made the worlds first cloned human embryo. He created hybrid embryos by putting DNA into “emptied” cows’ eggs, insisting this was not done in poor taste but as a scientific model for future human cloning efforts. He joins a group, Severino Antinori and the Raelian cult, who have claimed to have made human embryos but these claims have not been verified. Dr. Zavos claims to have created the cloned embryo with cells taken from a woman, then attempting to transfer or implant but due to complications with the surrogate, this was postponed.
