Life In Ashes

Cinderella, by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, is a story about a young girl and her struggles with her new family. Her mother dies and her father remarries. He brings his new wife into their home and with her came her two daughters. This new addition to Cinderella’s life makes her life very difficult. Her stepmother and her stepsisters make her do everything for her. She did everything from dressing them to cleaning the house to fixing their dinner. The story basically follows her stepmother’s and stepsister’s vain lifestyle and Cinderella’s ability to stay humble throughout the story. Through the vanity and humbleness the story also incorporates friendship and jealousy.
The stepmother probably felt that Cinderella would try to be the most important daughter and leave her two daughters out. So she used her position in the house to make sure that her daughters were favored. Appearance is very important to this whole story. The stepmother was always trying to make her daught...
