Lessons from Oedipus Rex (Themes)

Without digging myself into a mass of fine details, I can simply state that there are many things to be learned from the tragedy Oedipus Rex. We were given themes like human will versus fate, quest for identity, abuse of power, etc. However, I have come to observe more than what was given. Other themes I have noticed that are relevant from beginning to end are: ignorance is bliss, control is an illusion, and like father like son. Plain as they may be, these themes are quite prominent.
Ignorance is bliss. This is very true in that Oedipus remains oblivious to his actions and their repercussions, throughout the story. This theme also is correct in the fact that Oedipus was much happier and haughty when he was unaware of his faults, but conscious of his wisdom in freeing Thebes from the Sphinx.
