Leopold and Loeb

In the case of Leopold and Loeb, I believe the explanation as to why the murder occurred is the psychological view point. Both Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb obviously possessed some form of mental disease, and because of this, they murdered Bobby Franks.
Richard Loeb had an odd upbringing under the stern discipline of his governess. She was very hard on Richard, and was quick to have him become an ideal boy. She punished him often, thus leading up to his habit of lying. Since he was denied a normal childhood, his reading of detective stories and fantasizing became excessive.
He carried these habits on with him into elder years. He even lied to Leopold about his grades at school, and to his other friends about girls he had gone with. When studied by psychologists during the trial, they thought that his criminal hab...
