1. Source A is very useful to a historian as evidence of the difficulties Lenin faced in implementing War Communism because the source is a directive from Lenin, from the head of the government. It is also very useful because it is a contemporary source; meaning it came into existence at the same time of the events.

Also, the content is good because you can see that Lenin was expecting peasant resistance. Evidence of this is for example where it says “..two or three machine guns,” and this shows that Lenin was expecting trouble ; if there is resistance he will just shoot the peasants. Also , you can see that he was afraid that the excess grain wouldn’t be sent to collection centres. Evidence for this is simply that he clearly states that the excess grain must be sent to the collection centres.
