Learning to hear in signs

I had to take a course for college and I decided to take sign language. Even though in this area, I haven't seen to many people whom are deaf. My spouse, a few years ago, has had a neighbor who had a daughter who was deaf ( we'll call her L.). After thinking about it, I realized, around here, everybody was learning to speak spanish and not to much interest was into sign language.
