LEARNING AND EDUCATION

There is a wide gap among the concepts of learning and education. The environments in the educational institutions are more oriented in the process making the student move from one term to the other and from one class to the other without trying to imbibe in him the cult of learning. Students simply try hard to memorize and vomit back in the examinations rather than understand what he learns.

Man has been fascinated by the thirst to learn more and more, yet, has been inadequate in quenching it. We are content to sit back and console ourselves saying that learning is a continuous process that occurs from cradle to grave. We restrict our purview of learning to mere acquisition of knowledge alone.

If this is the plight of the learning community, what would be the state of the future? How many of us are really aware of even the meaning of the term learning?
